Dimensions: Underground Sonic Citadel
Dimensions: intelligent music, cutting-edge, experimental, underground electronic bass from state-of-the-art Funktion-One & Mungo’s Hi Fi sound systems, finely tuned for gut-vibrating beats. Artists are electro-techno sound pioneers such as Juan Atkins aka Model 500, DMZ’s Loefah, Mala of Digital Mystikz, Kode9 of Hyperdub, BBC Radio 1 Benji B, and IDM-folktronica producer Daniel Snaith aka Caribou. It’s Dimensions Festival (sister to Outlook Festival) – since 2012 an intimate sonic feast with beach & boat parties – attracting 5,000 discerning electro-music fans at the end of August to a venue like no other, with courtyards, tunnels, moat, dungeon and a spherical pit arena, at the Austro-Hungarian citadel – Fort Punta Christo Pula, Croatia.
Despite being a newcomer to the Croatia festival scene (debuting in 2012), Dimensions has delivered an intelligent line-up that’s included Carl Craig, Moodymann, Theo Parrish, Mount Kimbie, Marcel Dettmann, Ben Klock, Joy Orbison, Gold Panda, Scuba, Nicolas Jaar & Dave Harrington with Darkside, Juan Atkins & Moritz Von Oswald with Borderland, Underground Resistance with Timeline, Gilles Peterson, Mala Live, Kode9, Nils Frahm, Nina Kraviz, Jackmaster & Oneman, Anthony Shake Shakir, Karizma, Goldie, Motor City Drum Ensemble and hundreds of others who perform on-land, at floating boat parties and at low-key daytime beach parties by the sea.
But there’s nothing normal about Dimensions when the backdrop is a semi-crumbling ancient fortress, bedecked with the best sound systems & DJs in the world.
Dimensions Music festival is 200 artists, 11 stages, 30 boat parties, a concert at a 2000 year old amphitheatre and four days of...
Intense intelligent soundsystem culture in an ancient fort on the Adriatic!
The main features of Dimensions are intense soundsystem extravaganzas with world-class DJs in an ancient abandoned fort, legendary boat parties on the Adriatic, beach bashes and beachside chilling, plus a pre-festival concert at a 2000 year-old Roman amphitheatre in Pula. It’s about nightly underground, electronica, techno, house, dubstep, drum & bass parties, as well as daytime laid-back moments of rejuvenation with sea, sand and sun. Dimensions blends a Croatian seaside holiday with state-of-the-art sound.
Going barefoot, or wearing flip-flops, on the beach and lounge areas is fine, but due to the nature of the ancient fort’s structures, flip-flops, sandals or bare feet are not allowed. You’ll need a pair of closed-toe shoes for events within the fort, and for walking around the ruins, especially at night.
What do you think?
The camp-ground is near the beach, and is one of the sites for daytime parties. It has everything needed to enjoy the festival including toilets, showers, electricity (plug-in outlets), bars, food stalls (even a pizza place), shops and cash machines within the camping area.

Season & Weather
Temperature: 15 to 24 °C
Pula has a Mediterranean climate, and the Istria Peninsula is famed for calm waters, pleasant daytime temperatures and fresh evening sea breezes. Prepare for sunshine at the beach, cool winds on evening boat parties, and mildly chilly nights in the open-air courtyards of the fort.
